Altra is deeply committed to being active in all the communities that we serve.
Each year, we contribute considerable time at various events and charitable organizations. We are also committed to financial literacy through school programs and events.
Green Certification Program Completion
The Altra Madison St. and Stone Container offices in Clarksville, TN celebrated the success of completing the Green Certification program for Montgomery County on February 25, 2015. Altra is now one of about 75 businesses that have completed the program and will incorporate some of these same practices into our new branch scheduled to open in July, 2015.
Drive Away Hunger
Altra helped to "drive away hunger" by donating $12,850 to the Hunger Task Force of La Crosse on Friday, December 19. Altra donated $10 for every car, truck, and motorcycle loan financed from Oct 1 - Nov 30 to local hunger charities in our communities. Members who matched Altra's $10 donation were rewarded with a rate discount; members contributed over 30% of the $21,000 raised.
For Goodness Sakes
A special thank you to Altra employees for their generosity this holiday season to families in need. It's this tremendous spirit of giving that makes us all so proud to be part of the Altra family. Watch the pile of presents grow!
La Crosse Rotary Lights
Altra employees and family members joined the La Crosse Rotary Lights volunteer effort to feed the hungry in the Coulee Region. Volunteers staffed the Rotary Light display at La Crosse's Riverside Park on Saturday, December 6 from 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. Ten area food pantries will share in the 225,000 food items that are anticipated to be collected this holiday season. Thank you to our Altra members and the greater La Crosse community for keeping us busy all night!
Altra was proud to once again sponsor the 54th Oktoberfest Maple Leaf and Torchlight parades in La Crosse, WI. Altra employees and family members participated in each parade. Altra's float was honored with the award for Best Overall Theme which is selected by the Oktoberfest Parade Committee.
Most of us know too many people whose lives have been touched by Alzheimer's disease, the nation's sixth leading cause of death. The Walk to End Alzheimer's is about so much more than walking.
The Altra staff organized a Team to participate in the Alzheimer's Walk on September 20, 2014 for the first time. Nineteen people joined our team, eleven of those where employees with eight additional family members.
We are proud to say that our Altra Team was the top company in fundraising and in the top 4 overall.
At the Walk, we gather together to honor those affected and their caregivers, and remember those who are no longer with us.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
In an effort to bring awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence in our community, several Altra employees participated in Walk A Mile In Her Shoes on July 3, 2014 at Riverside Park in La Crosse, WI. Men walk in women's shoes for about a mile. Proceeds from this event will be shared by the YWCA of the Coulee Region and the Carilee Fund of Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation.
Children's Miracle Network Celebration
Altra donated $1,000 to the Children's Miracle Network in Tyler, Texas and Altra employees worked the phone bank during the CMN Celebration on June 1. The Children's Miracle Network Celebration was the biggest ever raising more than $831,223. Funds raised through the annual Children's Miracle Network Celebration have provided life-saving equipment in the Mother Frances Hospital Children's Center, Special Care Nursery, Emergency Care Center, Tyler Square Ambulatory Surgery Center, Special Needs Clinic and Mother Frances Hospital-Jacksonville.
Altra Federal Credit Union held a Teens and Money session on youth seminars Sunday, April 13, 2014. This seminar was open to students ages 13-17 and focused on paycheck and financial basics, budgeting, and checking accounts.
Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Altra Federal Credit Union held their 43rd annual Easter Egg Hunt in Onalaska, WI on Saturday, April 19, 2014. This was a RECORD BREAKING year for the Easter Egg Hunt with estimations of almost 1,100 children attending!
Governor's Financial Literacy Award
Altra was one of the 20 individuals and organizations presented with the 2013 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker on Feb. 26 in a ceremony at the Capitol. Criteria used in the screening process included innovative implementation, demonstrated measurable results, collaboration with partners, and whether the effort was focused on needs-based groups. Onalaska Operations Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Altra's Operations Center expansion was completed in Spring 2013. Our official ribbon cutting ceremony in May was attended by the La Crosse Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and Altra staff. A member open house was held in June.
West Salem Open House
Altra's newest location opened in June in West Salem, WI. Members of the West Salem Business Association, Altra members and Altra employees attended.
Cash In The Community
Cash debuted as the Altra mascot in 2013 at the Altra Easter Egg Hunt in La Crosse. Since then he has appeared in La Crosse area parades, thrown out the first pitch for Altra Night at the La Crosse Loggers and participated in the Logger Olympics. Look for Cash in your Altra Community!
