Mike grew up working on the family dairy farm in eastern Wisconsin. His father instilled two guiding principles in Mike and his siblings that he still lives by today. Work hard and be willing to help your neighbors in need. Mike feels "helping those in need is just the right thing to do!" After high school, Mike’s parents encouraged him to leave the farm and go to college. He holds an MBA from Viterbo University, La Crosse, WI, and his BS from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
After college, Mike thought he wanted to be an actuary, but he quickly learned it was not going to be the right career for him. Instead, he landed a management Training / Loan Officer position at Farm Credit Services in Appleton, WI. Mike has been with Altra since 2004, leading our Business Banking department and serving as the Chief Lending Officer. He joined Altra because he felt his and Altra’s values were aligned. Mike has over 40 years of lending management experience. Throughout Mike’s career, he has felt personally rewarded with the opportunity to help companies and people with challenging financial issues work through their problems. It goes back to his dad’s philosophy of people helping people.
Mike is a Rotarian and a member of the La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce. He loves to be outdoors, enjoying any chance he gets to hunt, fish, and play golf. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons.
