Altra Foundation selects a $10,000 Financial Education Scholarship Winner from Onalaska High School

Congratulations to Katherine Dahlke from Onalaska, WI.

Katherine is the Altra Foundation’s first-ever Financial Education Scholarship winner!

The Altra Foundation is dedicated to providing financial literacy education for youth and adults in the communities they serve. The Foundation’s definition of financial literacy is having the skills to develop financial goals, budget, manage debt, invest, and maintain good credit.

That is why they created a Financial Education scholarship – to reward a teen by giving them $10,000 to use towards their higher education.

The Altra Foundation Financial Education scholarship was available to high school students (grades 9-12), ages 13+. To be eligible, applicants needed to complete various modules through their partnered Banzai program, which is offered on Altra’s website or through teacher’s classrooms. Applicants did not need to be members of Altra Federal Credit Union to participate or win.

“This is the first time we’ve offered a scholarship like this and we are so excited to be able to do it,” says Danielle Anderson, Altra’s Youth Services Manager. “The Banzai! program has received several compliments from students over the years that have completed the modules”.

The Altra Foundation selected the first-ever winner of the Financial Education scholarship, Katherine Dahlke from Onalaska High School. Dahlke says “I am beyond grateful for this opportunity to put this money towards my education at the University of La Crosse in my field of Business Finance and using the money to further my education.”

When asked if she thought others should go through the Banzai program, she said “Everyone should take advantage of the Banzai program and take away as much as they can as it is a really good program. I know I learned a lot from it.”

A check presentation was held for Katherine Dahlke at the Altra Federal Credit Union Operations Center, located at 1700 Oak Forest Drive, Onalaska, WI 54650 on Tuesday, June 1st.
