Recently, we were made aware of a fraudulent e-mail sent to some of our members that appears to be from Altra Federal Credit Union. This false e-mail asked recipients to click on a link to confirm, verify or approve financial account information. If the recipient proceeded, the link directed them to a false website to verify or re-submit confidential information such as account and Social Security number. We immediately shut down the link as soon as we were made aware of it. Altra Federal Credit Union does not ask credit union members for personal information. Anyone who receives a supposed e-mail or phone call from Altra that asks for account information should consider it a fraudulent attempt to obtain their personal account data for an illegal purpose and should not follow the instructions in the e-mail or phone call.
