*Minimum Average Daily Balance
Our minimum balance checking accounts require an average minimum daily balance, not an absolute minimum like most financials. That means your checking balance on every day of the month is added up and divided by the number of days that month. That average balance is what is used to determine whether you met the minimum daily balance requirement that month.

Qualifying accounts
As an A+ Checking member, you are eligible to receive 3.25% APY* on checking balances up to $25,000 and up to $20 in ATM fee refunds from any U.S. ATM if you meet the four requirements listed below each cycle:

  • Receive your eStatement and A+ Checking Report card at a valid email address
  • Sign on to Altra's Free Online Banking
  • Make a Direct Deposit into your A+ Checking account ($50 minimum required)
  • Make 10 Altra Check Card purchases/transactions (ATM withdrawals do not qualify) 

Non-Qualifying accounts                                                                         
If you do not meet the four account requirements, your account is considered non-qualifying and will earn 0.25% APY on your entire account balance for that cycle. To qualify for the next cycle, simply complete the four A+ Checking account requirements.
     
*A+ Checking available for personal accounts only. Qualifying accounts earn currently posted Annual Percentage Yield (APY) on balances up to $25,000; Portion of balance over $25,000 earn 0.50% APY. Rates subject to change monthly.

"cycle” begins the last day of one month and ends on the second to last day of the next month; this allows Altra to calculate and post dividends and ATM refunds on the last day of each month. All requirements must be completed and/or posted in each cycle to be considered a qualifying account. Minimum $50 direct deposit required. ATM fee refunds available for ATM withdrawals made from A+ Checking only. Dividends calculated and paid each calendar month on the daily balance. Rate subject to change monthly.


Visa® payWave Debit Card

Use your free Visa payWave Debit card to make purchases anywhere you see the Visa logo displayed. Your payment will always come out of your checking account, but instead of writing a paper check, the Visa payWave gives you the option to wave your card in front of a secure reader configured to accept Visa payWave payments. Of course, you can still swipe your Visa payWave Debit card or hand it to the cashier to make purchases the traditional way.

Choose the “Credit” option for purchases
When you make a purchase with your Visa payWave Debit card, your payment will always come out of your checking account. You may be asked to choose "credit" or "debit" or you may be prompted to enter a PIN. Choose the "credit" option to have your payment processed through the same safe, secure and reliable payment network that is used when your card is swiped.

Choose the "Debit" option for ATM cash withdrawals or cash back
Use your Visa payWave Debit card PIN to get cash at ATMs worldwide or cash back at participating merchants. Funds will always be deducted from your Altra Checking or Savings account – the choice is up to you.

Verified by Visa protects your Visa Debit card with a password you create, giving you assurance that only you can use your Visa card online. Activate your card and create your personal password here or enroll while making an online purchase.


  Free Online Banking / Bill Pay / eStatements
 

Altra's Free Access 24 Online Banking system lets you check account balances, transfer money, and make loan payments securely online. Set up free e-mail reminders or text alerts from Altra when an account balance reaches a certain amount or when a transfer has been completed.

Altra's Free eStatements are accessed through Online Banking, so you must sign up for Access 24 Online Banking to receive eStatements. Online Banking users are also automatically registered to receive free unlimited online check images.


Our Free Access 24 Bill Pay system works just like an online checkbook. You control what bills are paid, payment date, and amount paid. Set up one time or recurring payments and cancel or edit payments as needed – nothing comes out of your account until you schedule it.

Have your bills sent to Bill Pay electronically and stop waiting for the mail! Free Bill Presentment (eBill) lets you receive and view your actual bill online including up to 12 months of bill history and payment history.

Funds Transfer & Pay People

Funds Transfer lets you move money between your Altra accounts and your accounts at other financial institutions electronically. You can choose Standard (3 Business Days) or Premium (Next Business Day) Service. Standard transfers into Altra are free to all members. Standard transfers out of Altra are free with A+ Checking upon request; a modest fee applies to other Checking Accounts. Click for more information.

allows you to send secure, confidential payments without knowing the other person’s personal banking information for a modest charge. Click for more information.


Overdraft Privilege

This discretionary service allows Altra to consider, with- out obligation, paying occasional, reasonable overdrafts for a member in good standing. Personal checking may be eligible for up to $800 of paid overdrafts – including fees. If Altra chooses to pay NSF items through Overdraft Privilege, our regular NSF fee will apply to each item. Overdraft Transfer Protection

Protect yourself from NSF fees by having money transferred to cover checks from your Savings account, Money Market, Credit Card, Line of Credit, or Home Equity Line of Credit. You can even set up cross-account overdraft protection for other Altra accounts on which you are a joint owner.

Please note – there is no limit to the number of transfers allowed from a loan or credit card, but savings accounts are limited by Federal law to six electronic withdrawals per month. Standard cash advance fees apply to Credit Card transfers. There is a small fee for moving money from a Savings or Money Market; transfers from a LOC or HELOC are free.


Direct Deposit

Routing Numbers for Direct Deposit

Make your tax refund quicker, safer, and more easily accessible! The IRS will transmit your tax refund directly to your Altra account, and your refund will arrive up to three weeks earlier than if received by mail. Also, there is no check to get lost or stolen, and your refund is instantly deposited. Using direct deposit or automatic payments is easy, convenient, and safe.

To set up FREE direct deposit or automatic payments, you will need the following information.
To receive a Federal Tax refund by direct deposit, include the following information on your IRS 1040 form in the section labeled “Refund.”

  • Altra’s routing number: 291881216.
  • Your 10-digit checking account number: Shown on the bottom of your checks (see example).
  • Savings account number: Your account number plus your savings account suffix without spaces or dashes.


International Travel Alerts

Altra Federal Credit Union, OFAC, and PSCU will block the usage of Visa Credit and /or Debit cards in countries where the probability of fraud is extremely high, or where an unprecedented number of fraudulent transactions have originated. Identity Theft 911, America’s leading identity theft resolution company. is a FREE service for any Altra member who has Altra checking and/or an Altra credit card. This extends to not only the member but ANYONE IN THEIR HOUSEHOLD!

ID Theft 911 is a proactive and reactive theft resolution service for everything from a lost or stolen wallet to complete account takeovers. Regardless of the severity, you'll be transferred to an Identity Theft 911 personal advocate who will work with you from the first call you make to report the problem until the crisis is resolved. Identity Theft 911 will notify appropriate agencies, businesses, and institutions, and create a comprehensive case file for insurance companies and police. They’ll follow through on every aspect of the case until your identity has been restored. Your Credit Bureau will be monitored for up to a year after the incident and you will receive information regarding victim assistance.
